Few gospel singers have attained degrees in music from institutes of higher learning. Often times, attendance at a two week music school is the extent of formal training for many who are professional musicians. These people rely on raw talent and on the job training to hone their craft.
However, this isn't always the case.
What gospel singer holds a BS degree in music from East Texas University?

LOL. I was kidding you Norm it was because you beat me to the trivia, but congrats and that hint about it being an Oaks member helped me too. I remembered that Duane was from Texas.

Squire Parsons and Conrad Cook have/had music degrees from WV Tech. Harold Lane was also a music major. All three were band directors in WV.

I`m not sure what Dave Weston`s degree(s) were , whether they were in music. education or what, but he taught at Central Bible College Springfield, Mo. And Bll and Gloria Gaither both taught school, and I think a couple of brothers in The Klaudt Indian Family had degrees. Another is Lanny Wolfe whohad a baccalaureate degree from Ohio St., a bachelor`s degree in music frio San Jose State and eventually finished with a Master`s degree in music.

I believe Bobby Clark had a degree as well, and I think it was in music.

Clacy Williams, tenor with the Gospel Harmony Boys, has his doctorate degree (Ed.D.) and is the Executive. Director of the West Virginia School. Building Authority (SBA).
