Don't you just love that play on words? :P
The Prophets Quartet began their career in Knoxville in the late 1950s. Several members of a group from St. Louis moved to Knoxville to for the nucelus of the Prophets.
What was the name of this St. Louis quartet? Spelling counts!
For extra credit. . . did this group ever sing at the NQC?
Kings Men, I don`t believe The Kings Men ever sang at the NQC.
The Kings Men is correct, but they did sing at the NQC in either 1958 or 1959. I believe it was 1958, but will check my recordings when I return "from assignment".

John wrote in his history column on the Prophets that the Kings Men were a big hit at the 1958 National Quartet Convention. It couldn't have been 1959 because the Prophets were formed, according to John, in March of 1969 and the NQC is not held until the fall.
