In the early 1970s, London Parris formed a group known as the Apostles. In forming the group, he chose several members from another quartet that he was singing with at the time to form the nucelus of the Apostles.

What was the name of this group?

For extra credit:
London also hired a close relative of a member of the Blackwood Brothers . . . the group he left a few months earlier. Who was this person?

James Moore - October 19, 2006 02:43 PM (GMT)
The group-The Rebels
The member -Curtis Lyles

I believe James is right.

Hmm. . . He's right, but that wasn't the answer I was looking for!

There must have been TWO Blackwood relatives in the Apostles. Who is the other one?

James Moore - October 19, 2006 04:21 PM (GMT)
Was the name you were looking for Everette Reece?

JohnCBoy - October 19, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
No, Everette Reece wasn't the person either.

One member of the Apostles had a brother in the Blackwood Brothers at the same time London was a member of the quartet.

Jeff Davis in the Apostles was the brother of Larry Davis in the Blackwoods. I believe both played bass guitar.

Wow, Mr. Norm! You just beat me to the punch here~

:D

James Moore - October 19, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
Well if Norm or Lauren Talley Rocks isn`t right, then I guess Aubrey Bowlus.

PS: John if you ever write a book in Southern Gospel Music, let me know

VirginiaJoe - October 19, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Can I get my copy autographed, John? That would be cool.

JohnCBoy - October 20, 2006 12:39 AM (GMT)
Jeff Davis is correct. He's Larry's brother. He and I attended the Stamps-Blackwood School of Music together in 1972.

. . . and I wrote one book, James, but it's long out of print.
