JohnCBoy,
I recently read a thread on another message board concerning Ray Dean Reese and his former groups.
Did he ever sing with the Inspirations or is this just something I dreamed up?
LTR -- bless your heart- yes he did.
Dean
:o Ray sang with the Inspirations?? I had no idea.
Hmm. . . I've gotten this question several times recently.
Dean's correct. It was a quick trip, but he was there none the less.
Was he actually considered a "member" of the Inspirations? Here's what the Inspirations biography "What a Wonderful Time" has to say about it:
On page 44 of the Inspirations book, "What a Wonderful Time" by Bob Terrell:
"One weekend they got Ray Dean Reese to go with them and sing bass. Ray Dean has now been singing bass with the Kingsmen Qt. of Asheville for many years. But at that time he told the Inspirations he couldn't sing with them any more. He had a good job with a coffee company. It wasn't a big decision for him because the Inspirations weren't doing anything big. They hadn't made a record and they were singing for fun."
So there you have it.

He probably got more perks from the coffee company than the Inspirations could provide.
