JohnCBoy continues to be on "special assignment" today.
What member of the Pine Ridge Boys went on to own and manage his own quartet?
Although he didn't sing with his group, the person in question has a beautiful voice, doesn't he, Gayla?
Charles Burke owned the ever-changing Singing Americans. His son Dwayne was the bass in the group.
At one point, Charles Burke sang with a revised version of the Sons of Song. He has sung at the GOGR in recent years with the original Pine Ridge.
Sorry I'm so late today! However, Kattie you are exactly right! Charles Burke has a gorgeous baritone voice! He has one of those huge commanding "booming" baritone voices, yet he can blend beautifully when the song or mood calls for it. Miles Cooper, also a Pine Ridge Boy - and great singer, even had the Pine Ridge Boys and Charles do a special song for me at one of the jam sessions at GOGR year before last because I had to miss part of their performance at the "main evening singing", and a year before that he had Charles sing a chorus of a song for me in the food court at the NQC!
This picture is a little deceaving because Mr. Burke is not in this picture...it had been quite a few years prior to that picture that Mr. Burke sang with the group..however 2 of the fellow in the picture did sing with Mr. Burke..Miles Cooper and Jim Stewart...But it is a good question...Another good question would be "who was the "original" pianist for The Pine Ridge Boys?"...
