The Blue Ridge Quartet spent many years in gospel music. Their home base was in Spartanburg, S.C.
Prior to moving to Spartanburg, SC, the Blue Ridge Quartet worked at radio stations in two North Carolina cities.
What were the these two North Carolina cities.

They were in Raleigh and Burlington, NC prior to moving to Spartanburg.

I know they were in Burlington on WBBB. John, I may know something about them that you are not aware of, ( this could be a first ) but I doubt it.
They practiced at a lady's house here in Burlington that taught music, 4 part harmony and piano. Miss Lula Riddle, she loved Quartet singing and was a good quartet style picker. The Master's Quartet took from her for several years.
Did you ever know Edgar Vom Lane, a voice teacher and staff at Walter Williams High School. The Master's took voice from him. Elmo Fagg took from him and reccomended him to us.This tells you how old Joe Loy is............
The white piano in the Pic is the same one the Master's used to record our radio show that ran for ten years on WBBB,Sun. afternoon at 5:00 pm.

I agree with musicmike and Harvester on Burlington, N.C. and Raleigh,N.C.

I didn't know Edgar Vom Lane, but I did know Miss Lula. In fact, when she passed away, I bought a lot of her old sheet music. She had quartet notations, etc. on many of the copies.
I wonder how many current groups spend quality time with voice lessons and quartet practice.

Why is it that the bad groups that can't sing use the word "annointed" alot but the good quality groups don't throw that term around much?!

Perhaps your post itself answers the question. ;)

Re Annointing: You might enjoy this recent quote (thanks to averyfineline for pointing it out):
When asked about Karen Peck and New River's upcoming Daywind Records release,.. GRAMMY® and Dove Award winning producer,.. Bubba Smith, says: “From the musicians, singers, engineers and songs, God's hand of anointing is clearly on this new project. I count it an honor and privilege to be a part of Karen, Susan and Devin’s music ministry.”
Makes you wonder if "God's hand of anointing" was on any of recordings by the Statesmen or Jake and the Imperials or other top quality groups.
