So we went to Star Wars last night, and it was SO awesome. There were Stormtroopers EVERYWHERE. And alot of cosplayers too. I wanted to dress up, but mom said nobody would. >.> I'm always right, she never gets that. Anyway. We got alot of pictures taken with jedi and stormtroopers.
So we took pictures, then sat down in the theater. And these guys are SO fun to watch. We had entertainment from audience members for the whole hour, including a guy standing on another guy's shoulders and doing the macarina, two big guys running into eachother like bulls and knocking themselves over so they could wrestle, and a security guard doing lightsaber tricks. Then all the people in costumes took a big group picture.
It was really great, the experience was. But the movie...Well, I had mixed reviews on Star Wars. Watch out for spoilers…
I felt like the movie was rushed, and everything went way too fast. It’s like Lucas clipped 20 minutes off of everything when he put stuff together and then glued the pieces together. Some scenes were great, but then they went over board, (IE: The beginning scene was great, but it was kinda boring seeing nothing but ships for the first 5 minutes. Once Anakin and Obi appeared, it was alright then.
Character Reviews
Anakin- I think Anakin was portrayed great. It was devastating seeing how he turned, even though we know it was supposed to happen. He thought he was doing what was right, but he wasn’t. Hayden did an excellent job with him.
Padme- Padme has been my favorite character of the SW series since Ep1, and I looked forward to seeing her. I loved her, because she was so diplomatic and Queenlike. In this movie, I was horrified to see she was reduced to nothing but a emotional mess. I mean, I can understand why, but still. Her only scenes were emotional, and we never saw that diplomatic senator we all love. Her best line was “So this is how democracy ends. With thunderous applause.” That was the only good moment she had.
Obi Wan- I’m not usually insane over Obi Wan, but I liked him in this movie. Maybe because I felt bad for him. The whole ‘brother’ scene wrenched my heart out, and I almost started crying right there. He had some cheesy moments, some wise cracks (The elevator shaft, anyone?)…but Ewan did a great job with this character and he is now one of my favorites.
Yoda- I think Yoda was my favorite character in this movie. And that says A LOT, because he usually bores me. I think when you see the movie, you’ll see why. He was awesome, and gained quite a few laughs from the audience.
Palpatine- Well he’s evil, of course he’s not my FAVORITE. But he did a great job in this movie also. Very convincing, and now we know how he got deformed and such.
Mace Windu- Sam Jackson sure got the exit he wanted. Mace was a great character in this movie also, and I had no complains with him really.
Bail Organa- I really liked this character. He was always there when the Jedi needed a hand. Now we know more about Leia’s adoptive father.
Chewbacca- He wasn’t in the movie enough to really say anything about him. Same old Chewwy.
R2D2- OMG. R2 ROCKED this movie. He was hilarious, and very handy. His scenes were awesome, and had the audience clutching their sides.
C3P0- Same as Chewwy really. Not in the movie enough, but same old.
So yea. I think I didn’t totally like the movie because there were a lot of jokes and funny spots in there. I think it was to ease people during the really serious parts, and I did like the funny stuff, because I like comedy (like, duh. My favorite cartoon character is a wisecracking blonde) but some spots just didn’t need the funny stuff.
It was an ok movie, but it coulda been a lot better for the last movie.
Well, I really liked the movie alot. I had actually read the novelization before going, so I knew what was going on ahead of time, but really, this was my second favorite of the series after Empire Strikes Back. I thought overall it was really well done. As far as Padme being an emotional mess, not only did it have to do with everything happening where Anakin was concerned, but also to do with her being pregnant. I know from the experience of my wife having been pregnant twice that it will totally mess with the hormones anyway, so that certainly didn't help matters. There was one thing in the book that I had wished they had in the movie, which had to do with Yoda and Obi-Wan gaining entry back into the Jedi Temple after the massacre. They didn't fight their way through the front entrance, instead they went by way of the depths of Coruscant and entered through a service accessway. There were clones wearing Jedi robes waiting there so any returning Jedi might not realize something was wrong. As it was described, a hunchbacked person came up to them saying that he had found a baby... a Jedi baby. The clones looked and saw this horrific looking baby with weird eyes and large ears and looking like he was very old. They asked how he could be certain it was a Jedi baby. At which point Yoda activates his lightsaber saying "My lightsaber, your first clue would be" and then struck down the clone guards. I was hoping it would have been kept in, but figured that it wouldn't. Oh, well.

That would have been AWESOME. Sounds funny.
Alright, I changed my mind. After thinking about it, I decided I'm pretty happy with this movie. ^.^
